Washed out at Abbotts Bromley

The start of the new season saw a game reduced to 30 overs, and unrestricted bowling, due to the threat of unpleasant weather. Nomads bowled and Heslington showed he is ready for business this season with tight spell of bowling claiming 2 wickets for a meagre 16 runs. His opening partner, Hoddy, showed some early season rustiness with a few low full tosses and leg side deliveries but was bowled for 10 overs for reasonable figures. Brannigan opened with a beamer butthen  lowered his sights. He also showed a bit of rustiness with, for him, fairly expensive figures of 51 off 9 overs. Captain Pete Blackburn showed some mercy on his bowlers by having a few himself. After some early wickets, Johnson and Ronson consolidated to gave a respectable total of 144-4.

Nomads opened with Gardner and Jones, the latter showing one or two good-looking shots. Rolfe appeared briefly after the fall of Gardner but then the rains set in and the match was soon abandoned .

It was a pity what looked to be an interesting run chase was rained off.
