Captain's Curry Announcement 29th Oct 2010

You may be aware, in recent weeks, of the discussions that have taken place regarding the fall off of the “Captain’s Curry”. This was borne out of the fact that only two members attended last year and none of them was the Captain. The attendees were the Treasurer and the Secretary. This notification may be a bit formal, but it is the Club’s intention to try and regenerate interest in this social function.

This year, the “Captain’s Curry” will be held at the “Lal Bag” Indian restaurant in Bird Street, Lichfield on Friday 29th October 2010, start time 7.00pm. We are aware that some would prefer a later curry.

Can members wishing to attend please let our Captain Ian Hughes know by replying to him by the AGM at the latest. This is because large numbers cannot just walk in; he needs to book a table(s) in advance. Your fullest co operation in this matter would be most appreciated.
MA Heslington, Secretary.

Nomads fightback falls short at Sutton on the Hill
A blistering century by Martindale looked to have took the game away from the Nomads but a marvellous fightback inspired by Kev Collins four wickets meant that Sutton on the Hill were dismissed for 197. Powerful knocks by Fearon (71) and Collins (39) meant that the Nomads were always up with the rate but regular wickets meant that the Nomads fell 33 runs short with 10 overs to spare. Nomads hit record score against Church Eaton
The Nomads put in a record breaking performance to record their sixth win in seven matches. The Nomads record score of 295 for 3 was more than a match for Church's 147 all out.
Pete Gardner passed 500 runs for the season and scored 54. Dan Moss finished unbeaten on 96 and Paul Fearon notched his first fifty of the season, ending on 55 not out.
Two early wickets put paid to any hope of a weakened Church Eaton side getting close to the Nomads total. They had two 13 year olds and a couple of drafted in dads but they kept batting positively and two middle order batsmen were rewarded with half centuries. Fearon broke the main partnership and then Westwood took a spectacular hat-trick to ensure the Nomads won convincingly.
Match Summary.

Test Match at Trent Bridge v Pakistan - Reminder
Hi All,
As one of my duties as the Social Secretary I guess I should post some imformation regarding the Test Match at Trent Bridge on the 31st July that many Nomads are attending. For those travelling from Lichfield the train times are as follows: 08:40 Lichfield Trent Valley - Tamworth arr 08:47 09:07 Tamworth - Nottingham arr 10:05
This gives us plenty of time to complete the short walk from Nottingham station to Trent Bridge Coming back there are a couple of options depending on what people want to do on the day. I am proposing a stop in Derby on the way home, taking in the Alex and the Brunswick Public Houses.
Nottingham - Derby Trains run every half an hour so we'll play it by ear dependant on the time we arrive back at Nottingham station after the Test Match. 19:36 Derby - Tamworth arr 19:59 20:30 Tamworth - Lichfield Trent Valley arr 20:36
21:28 Derby - Tamworth arr 21:48 21:53 Tamworth - Lichfield Trent Valley arr 21:59
For those travelling via Birmingham New Street the train times are as follows: 08:49 Birmingham New Street - Nottingham arr 10:05
19:28 Derby - Birmingham New Street arr 20:07
19:36 Derby - Birmingham New Street arr 20:24
19:54 Derby - Birmingham New Street arr 20:27
20:05 Derby - Birmingham New Street arr 20:56
20:28 Derby - Birmingham New Street arr 21:07
20:53 Derby - Birmingham New Street arr 21:27
21:06 Derby - Birmingham New Street arr 21:55
21:28 Derby - Birmingham New Street arr 22:07
The cost of the train tickets will be £12.60 for an Off Peak Day Return from Lichfield Trent Valley to Nottingham and £14.10 for the same ticket from Birmingham New Street to Nottingham.
Cheers Graeme

Team for WT Parker
Hi All The team for this Sunday is; R CAYGILL (CAPT), M PINFIELD, D FORSTER, P FEARON, P GARDNER, F WEIR, J HODDY, D MOSS, N GEORGE, K COLLINS, C COLLINS.
The ground's address is; Shobnall Road, BURTON ON TRENT, DE14 2BD

Sorry to those not getting a game (and thank you to those who volunteered to stand down). If Parkers are short, as they were a few weeks ago, would anyone be willing to 'guest' for them? Please let us have your availability ASAP. I'm on holiday for a week from 17th so any emails after that for a week aren't guaranteed to be picked up. Hopefully Malcolm & Richard will sort the team out for the game on the 25th (vs Church Eaton).
Good luck & keep up the winning momentum.
Cheers, Ian.

Ray's Memorial Bath Tour
The details for the above are as follows;
Saturday: Christian Malford SN15 4BQ. The village is small and the ground shows up well on Google maps. The AA suggest M5 to J11A then via Cirencester and head towards Chippenham. Crossing the M4 (at J17) take the B4122 and then the B4069. Then right into the village. It is 105-110 miles so people should allow at least 2 1/2 hours The end of the B4069 is at RAF Lyneham - no more than 4 or 5 miles away
Sunday: Hinton Charterhouse, Branch Road, BA2 7SZ This also shows up superbly on Google maps Branch Road runs between the A36 (south of Bath) and the B3110. The AA route takes you down the M5, then the M4 and off at Junction 18 on to the A46 through Bath. It is 120 miles or so.
We are staying at Bath Uni, so I think Ray would have approved... Claverton Down Bath BA2 7 AY It's about 1.5 miles east of the City centre. Their website is www.haatbath.co.uk so people can have a look. All rooms are booked in my name. Couples obviously have doubles and everyone else has singles in the Halls of residence. Cost is £50 night/double & £30/night single. All linen & towels are included in the price, but breakfast is NOT.
So that people can organise shared transport, where possible, the people staying are;

Important message from the Social Secretary
Hi all,
As I am the social secretary this season it is my job to try and arrange a social event/events. I think these events can be very useful in terms of team building, thats why I'm calling on all Nomads to give me some feedback. I understand that not everyone can make these events due to other commitments and also that some of the events in the past may not have been to everyones liking. I would like people to fire some ideas at me, of things that we can do to get as many people involved as possible and also some dates when people are free. You can either email me at graemeblackburn@hotmail.com or pass on your suggestions at the next meeting / nets / game.
Many Thanks Graeme
