Lichfield Nomads C.C. v Walsall Nomads

Midsummer Melancholy

On a midsummer evening that became increasingly gloomy, the Nomads performance matched the weather as they fell to defeat against Walsall Nomads for the second time in eight days.
Having won the toss and elected to bat, Walsall raced away to a good start, with only Hutton and Sam Bryars restricting the scoring to any great extent. Runs were consistently racked up, our opponents finally reaching 193-4 in their 20 overs.
In reply Mahmood fell second ball, immedaitely putting the Nomads on the back foot. The shining light in our innnings was Brannigan’s well earned 50, ultimately falling to the penultimate ball of the game. Although supported by cameos from Loxley, Hutton and Barker, we were always behind the required run rate and ultimately came up well short.
The T20s have not been kind to the Nomads, the rest of the season will see a longer form of the game which perhaps suits us better.
