Gary Sercombe - Obituary
It is with great sadness that we say farewell to former Nomad Gary Sercombe who passed away recently.
Gary Sercombe made his debut for Nomads at the end of our first season. He then went on to represent the club a further 146 times and scored over 1000 runs for the club.
Always a good fielder, he was a very occasional bowler but over his career turned himself into a useful batsman.
His abilities meant that he was a holder Nomad of the Year, Performance of the year and Fielder of the Year trophies. He was also the club captain where his only major failing was to linger too long in the changing rooms and on entering the pavillion discovered that the Nomad Locusts had already devoured the tea.
He was a life long supporter of Warwickshire county cricket, Crystal Palace FC, Warrington rugby league and also of Philadelphia American football side (I assume because they are called the Eagles). Sadly Sercombe had a long battle with cancer which reached its end in St Giles Hospice during May but apparently his passing was as easy as it could have been. He was 56.
Everybody at the club would like to express their condolences to the Sercombe family. Rest In Peace Gary.
